Absolutely. The wooden lid has a silicone seal all around that doesn't let moisture and aroma get in and out. The bottom mechanism also has silicone tips to seal it when the lever is closed. We put coffee beans in the dispenser as a test to see if coffee aroma gets out and it completely blocked the aroma from getting out.

The glass container is made of 5mm thick boroscilicate glass which makes it extremely durable.
